An old man dressed in a wrinkled suit sits on a couch in an ancient library. He summarizes a historical figure and their well-known contribution. He then names a person you never heard of, a forgotten historical figure integral to the story, the subject of today's episode of footnote.
footnote
This web series will profile neglected historical and cultural figures (the assistants, predecessors, right-hands, and rivals) detailing their contributions, significances, controversies, and declines into obscurity. Each episode will be narrated by the librarian who will also open and close each profile on-screen. A majority of each episode will consist of archival.
footnote tells the stories of tragic characters and every profile engages with its subject emotionally, focusing on telling the human story of this forgotten figure. Consequently, each episode will be ~15 mins, longer than your typical webisode.
